We are pleased to announce that twenty new projects have been awarded funding through our Community Stories grants program! Click through to read more about the projects, which focus on stories of refugee and immigrant communities, Native Americans, veterans, commercial fishermen, farmers and ranchers, sex workers, and much more.

Cal Humanities is proud to announce that 20 projects throughout the State of California have been selected as grant awardees for its Community Stories program. Chosen from over 120 submissions, the projects comprise a broad range of community-focused stories to explore the diversity of the California experience.

Cal Humanities will soon be accepting applications for its Community Stories grant program. New grant guidelines will be posted by May 15th.

The next deadline for Community Stories grant application submissions will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012. New, updated grant application guidelines will soon be posted on the Community Stories Grant page of our site.

Under the dictatorship of Pol Pot, an estimated 95% of Cambodia's musicians and artists were executed in just four years. Several of the few who survived are preserving Cambodia's traditional repertoires and teaching them to the next generation of Cambodian Americans in Oakland, many of whom are re-composing and creating new lyrics about their lives.
