Dear Friends:

We wish you a happy 2010 and are eager to bring you news of what’s happening with CCH programs and related items of interest from the world of humanities. There will be several exciting changes and new initiatives to tell you about in the coming months. We welcome your feedback and look forward to hearing from you.

HrAbraham Lincoln Bicentinnial

As a part of the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. day celebration, join the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and leaders from across Los Angeles for an important Town Hall meeting exploring the impact of race relations entitled "Lincoln and King's Unfinished Work". The discussion will focus on how words, entertainment, and the arts are - and can be - used to explore race in the USA. The range of participants include Lincoln biographer Ron White, playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, actor Richard Dreyfuss and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.,  as wells as many others. This Town Hall meeting should provide an interesting take on Lincoln and his relevance to today.

CCH is one of many co-conveners of the event. Admission to the event and reception is FREE but you must RSVP online using the link below.

Date: Sunday January 17th
Time: 3 - 5 pm (doors open at 2 pm)
