We Are California:
Stories of Immigration and Change

Site to feature personal stories and provide space for sharing stories

Website to go live in fall 2008.

A new interactive website will provide an unprecedented look at California immigration. At the heart of the site will be the personal stories of immigrants and refugees, from California’s earliest days up until the present time.

The stories will be presented in a variety of formats, including video audio and text. Many of the stories will be drawn from projects the Council has supported over the past five years under its California Stories initiative.

The site will contain a wealth of historical information about California immigration, including primary sources, such as letters, photographs and newspaper articles.

An 11th-grade curriculum will be available for teachers to download and use in their classrooms. Users will also be able to contribute their own immigration stories and upload family videos and photographs.
