"Down an Old Road, The Poetic Life of Wilma E. McDaniel"
Producer/director Chris Simon will screen this documentary film about poet Wilma Elizabeth McDaniel, and discuss her biographical subject in the context of "The Grapes of Wrath." At the age of 17, McDaniel turned the experiences of the Okies into literature; unlike Steinbeck, she lived it.

Local author and professor Richard Dry presents his novel "Leaving." This novel features the struggles of an African-American family who migrate from South Carolina to Oakland Calif., in the 1960s.
