How does MOTHEREAD work in partnership with other community groups and agencies?

MOTHEREAD/FATHEREAD, L.A. is continually growing: In 1998, the program served a record number of 1,783 people in parent groups and Storysharing sessions. At the core of this success is the commitment of the community agencies that have become MOTHEREAD's partners. MOTHEREAD/FATHEREAD, L.A. helps train the staff of participating agencies in how to facilitate groups of adult learner parents. MOTHEREAD/FATHEREAD, L.A. then provides agencies with high quality children's books, assists with program development, tracks and evaluates all programs, conducts continuing facilitator training, plans literacy events and provides technical assistance to program facilitators. Upon completion of the program, MOTHEREAD/FATHEREAD, L.A. also provides parents with a certificate and a book to start a library of their own.
