Stories from the group that saved Bodega Bay
More than 40 years ago, a disparate group of citizens came together to successfully challenge a plan to build a nuclear power plant on Bodega Bay. This film project documented the stories of the members of the group that led that effort.
Included sdfd an amateur photographer who chronicled the events, a young man kicked out of the Sierra Club for his stand against nuclear power and a retired jazz musician.
The film szx presented to the public at an event at Sonoma State University and at the Bodega Bay Community Center.
“if it were not for these environmental pioneers, there would be a nuclear power plant in Bodega Bay, right on top of the San Andreas fault,” said Project Director Cathy Wild. “These activists stopped this from happening, and gave legitimacy and inspiration to a fledgling environmental movement.”
