Pillipino middle-school students to learn about Pilipino mythology as inspiration for their own stories

This project will involve 8 to 10 Pilipino middle-school students in San Francisco’s South of Market area in exploring their ancestry through mythology and history and then creating journals, a play, a documentary and a zine based on their “lives as myths.”

Guiding the students will be Pilipino American artists and scholars, including writer Patty Cachapero, filmmaker RJ. Lozda and Pilipino American history expert MC Canlas.

The students will present their work to the public at two events in spring 2009
