Five California Writing Project sites held programs
Five California Writing Project sites and a number of teachers connected to those sites were part of California Stories Uncovered in the classroom – Cal State Los Angeles Writing Project; Great Valley Writing Project, in Turlock; San Diego Area Writing Project; UCLA Writing Project; and UC Merced Writing Project.

Some 15 teachers from nine different schools were involved in this project that engages students in writing personal narratives, poems, historical fiction and cultural issue essays, and creating photographs and video. - Great Valley Writing Project, Turlock
Ten teachers and their classrooms from five different schools in the region participated in an oral history program called “Sharing Our California Stories. - San Diego Area Writing Project
Teachers from 11 schools and their classrooms are participated in a “Young Author’s Chair and Ice Cream Social” to share the California Stories they have collected and written. - UCLA Writing Project
Students at nine schools created personal narratives, poems, historical fiction, cultural issues essays as well as photographs and video on their families’ and communities’ California stories. Fifteen teachers were involved. - UC Merced Writing Project
Twelve teachers and their classrooms from five different schools participated in "Honoring California Stories,” a program involving students in creating family California stories using photographs and writing.
