“Letters Home” Contest

12 Californians, from Stockton to La Jolla, writing to friends and relatives in places as far a field as Guatemala, China and the Philippines, won $1,000 in prize money in the California Stories Uncovered “Letters Home” contest sponsored by CCH and New California Media, a membership association of 700 ethnic media organizations.

Dozens of ethnic and community media outlets in the NCM network -- http://news.ncmonline.com/news -- dedicated space in their publications and on air making sure news of the contest reached their audience.

The winners were selected by a panel of distinguished judges from some 200 entries in 12 languages. They were honored during the month of April at California Stories Uncovered author events in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco and National City in April -- http://www.calhum.org/programs/uncvrd_library_writers.htm. The ethnic media who sponsored the winning letters were also honored.
